Today we slept in! Hooray! With our journey to Venezia last weekend we haven't slept in in almost 2 weeks! We took some pictures yesterday on the balcony (the rest you can see in the "today's picture's" link at the bottom of the page. So I figured I'd include them here. Yesterday we ended up going to the Oviesse department store to buy the kids some more socks and underwear and a couple of shirts. With no laundry service this week, we would've been short on clothing. This morning we woke up leisurely and had breakfast. Then we hit the supermercati in preparation for this weekends holiday shut down. Wouldn't you know it, we forgot to buy salt so we went back later in the afternoon again. We also stopped off at a little photo booth near the police station so the kids to take some paper photos of themselves. We had made some picture frames about a month ago from flour, salt and water and they want to give some out to their friends here.

After the supermercati we went home and had lunch. Then we headed of into Trento centre. There we went to the swan park and fed our stale bread we had been saving out to the birds. Kristie tried unsuccessfully to unpluck another feather from a swan to replace the one she lost to the wind.

Next we headed out to the Funivia, or the funicular. I didn't know we had one here until I had spoken with that school teacher from New York City a couple of weekends ago. We went up the funivia but wouldn't you know it, there is nothing to do or see up there. It seems the best vistas are taken up by private property. In this one shot on the left you can see the university's football (soccer) field in the middle between the kids. There is an old abandoned albergo at the peak here that we had noticed before from the town. I guess it wasn't too successful. Not surprising since there is nothing else to do up here. We hung out up here until the next trip down. I think the funivia runs on a 30 minute schedule. At least there was a water fountain here to get water from.

We then headed back into Trento and hit Piazzi Duomo to buy some Trento patches. It is interesting that we could buy patches in Venezia for about 1500 lire (or 70 cents US) less than we could in Trento. I guess it really isn't a lot of money to quibble about. I guess when you consider it's not that expensive to begin with...

We headed back to Gardolo and bought some salt on the way home from the bus stop. Then we came up into the apartment and had dinner. We headed out to the park, without Stephen's soccer ball. Apparently, yesterday, he had kicked it up on the roof of the boccio building and no one was around to climb up and get it down. So that is unfortunate that he is out a soccer ball now.

I think the girl that rented the apartment above me is moved in now. She has spent some time here the past couple of days. I guess she was moving out of her old apartment and into this one. Seems like a pleasant person and she hasn't made a lot of noise, yet. Fortunately it sounds like she takes off her heels when she comes into the apartment.

There was some lightning and thunder earlier this evening to the east but it never made it over the mountain over here. You could see the lightning over the mountain top. We stopped by the gelateria and grabbed an ice cream sandwich for the kids on the way back.

Tomorrow we have no plans but I'm thinking we'll head down to Riva Gardo (spelling?) It is near a large lake and the school teacher from New York City said there was a small amusement park there, so the kids might like that.
