Today went rather smoothly considering we had to catch a train at 17h15 to Venezia!  This was accomplished pretty much without any problems.  Gabriella dropped the kids off at the office at about 15h30 and from there we went to the train station.  We needed to catch a train along the Valsugana line which, unlike most of the other trains, is a smaller scale train that also runs along a unique route through the mountains. Needless to say this was a very scenic ride!  I didn't take pictures on the way fearing I wouldn't get a chance to download them into the computer before we went into Venezia.  But on the ride home I definitely plan on taking some pictures.    Kristie had a nice 1.5 hour nap on the train which was good if we were to still get some dinner when we got to Venezia.

The ride itself was 3 hours to Venezia Mestre which is a suburb of Venezia and has no canals.  The nice thing is though is the bus stops right at the corner from the hotel and goes into Venezia itself for only 1,400 Lire. We got into Venezia around 20h19 and took a taxi from the train station to the hotel.  We could've taken a bus but I figured it was worth the 12k Lire to have an uneventful trip to the hotel.

We checked into the hotel and broke off to see if we could still catch some dinner down in Venezia by the canals.  We caught the 21h05 bus into Venezia and it stopped at the trainstation in Venezia.  From there we walked around briefly and found a ristorante by the canal that was still open.  We all had pizza.  Kristie didn't finish hers but I guess she had eaten quite a bit on the train.  Stephen had packed a snack for us that consisted of mortadella, provolone dolce, another cheese that we had bought, bread and their favorite cacciatore equino (horsemeat hard salami-like sausuage).  Needless to say, he forgot to pack a knife so the cacciatore was unmanageable and we ended up throwing that away.  This also reminded me that I still needed to replace my lost Swiss Knife (which I managed to the next day in Venezia).

After dinner we caught the bus back to the hotel and around 23h00 we were all in bed, and asleep.
