Then I spent pretty much the rest of the day reading documentation. I'm still not tasked for a particular project so I'm not real sure what is or is not relevant for me. Tomorrow I have a meeting where I will get assigned a specific task.
I walked home. It is a nice walk and good exercise for me. Something you rarely get to do living back in the states, unless you live in a major city like Chicago or New York. Gabriella asked if she could buy some supplies to clean the apartment. I told her it was okay by me. She also said she hadn't found a laundry near by. I'm going to have to talk to Vincenzo as he said earlier there was one by the offices. Gabriella also pointed out the pots and pans that were brought over today. Also, our gates for the entrance were activated today and Gabriella needed me to let her out with the key.
Then we went to the magazinne. I needed to get Stephen a warm jacket or sweater and decided on the latter. We bought some more toys and some miscellaneous things for the apartment for cooking. And now that we can cook we stopped off at the super mercati and bought some cookable food, and our favorite mortadella. This stuff is delicious! Then I cooked up some pasta. Man, let me tell you, was that an enjoyable experience. The pasta here is simply indescribable! I can't imagine what it is they do but it tastes extrodinaire! Although I don't doubt that the local Trentino butter we used helped the palette. I wonder why we in the states don't have the same ingredients that they use here.
We got home and Kristie started painting her dog house with the water colors we bought. Stephen played with his new Lego set. It's a good thing we don't go to the magazinne too often.
Dinner wasn't served up until 07h30. We're starting to eat dinner later and later. Partially because Gabriella had also bought them some small pizza's and heated them up and they were eating when I got home. Stephen and I washed the dishes as Kristie cleared the table. Then Kristie worked on her story on the computer while Stephen played some more with his Lego. Then when it was his turn he didn't want to work on the journal but instead wanted to work on his story too. That is why there is no foreword by him today.
They are now in bed and hopefully will be asleep soon. The weather today was simply superb. Cool, comfortable. It warmed up in the evening and was a little hotter for me than I like but otherwise today was nice. Now it is cooling off again. I still don't see a lot of people at the apartment building here. Yet you can see signs of life because things on the balconies have changed position. My allergies seem to be subsiding today. When I first got to Italy I attributed it to the smog in Roma for making me sneeze and bothering my eyes. But up here we don't have that problem, to the same extreme. Yet for the past week I've been unable to go without my Tavist-D. I did skip it today though and got through the day in relative comfort so hopefully I'm acclimating.
I read through my IBM.net email today. It was interesting to hear about some of the developments and restructuring at my last job since I left. In a number of ways, I think the past couple of weeks has been a good step forward for my former teammates and I wish them the best of luck. Maybe now they can make some progress and start making money!
Tomorrow my one goal will be to scout out a sofa bed for the apartment. I imagine this is going to set me back some. But in the long run it will be worth it I think. Me and the kids are already squabbling over who gets the middle [-grin].
