I have been using my Olympus D200-L digital camera now for a couple of months and have come across some observations that may be useful for others. Click here to see some of the photographs taken by the digital camera.
  • Software settings. This tip is probably the most useful of all. In the software preferences, change to the tab for the serial port and set the serial port speed to the highest setting available. It defaults to 9600 baud for some reason.
  • Fingers. Fingers are almost always getting in the way of the lens. There is no easy way to prevent this. I advise to verify each photo after you take the picture. In the meantime, I hope Olympus's newer models will have a more reasonable gripping surface.
  • Flash. In almost 100% of my photos I have resorted to enabling the flash. Somehow with digital photography shady areas are almost invariably over-darkened. I used to try and conserve battery power by not using the flash and have wasted some otherwise nice shots.
