We started our morning by getting some refreshments for the boat. Water and beer!

Our boat is called the Shamrock. For those of you that know me, there is a strong Irish theme running through my life.

I am certain this is going to be a great trip.

The Shamrock is an impressive boat! It's one of those huge fishing boats you always see out in the water. The boat was built in 1969 and is incredibly well maintained. The varnish was so shiny that you could see your reflection in it. A truely well kept craft.

I'm sorry captain Dan, but we seemed to have lost your contact info. If any one is looking for a great boat to charter contact the Jupiter Seasport Marina and ask for the number for the Shamrock.

This is from the bow of the ship.

Okay, I know, I'm taking lots of photos of a stationery boat and no fishing action going on.

So, lets move on!

This is the tackle we are going to use. Cory, the 1st mate, is in charge of keeping the hooks baited and the rods hooked. This set up you see here is what we are going to use for trolling around, which we did a bit of in the beginning.

This is also a nice photo to measure the Olympus D600L camera by.

The lighthouse that marks our way out of the channel. I've also seen it on a bunch of postcards around the area.

So, here's a way to make an el cheapo postcard for yourself. Mind you, the weather is quite cloudy and not lighting up the subject real well. The lighthouse also had a nicer coat of paint on back then.

I sat up on the bridge for a while. Talk about a not real comfortable experience for someone who suffers from vertigo and there are no side railings! But still an exhilirating ride.

This is a photo of the main console the captain is using to guide the boat.

By the way, this boat can go FAST! Fastest I've ever travelled across water. Twin screws.

A shot of the strong wake left behind by the high speed twin screws of the boat. I was holing onto the railing with the other hand while taking this photo.

Yeah, another spar photo. When are we going to catch some fish?

Mind you, the first two spots we tried trolling in we didn't get a nibble. The captain finally heard something on the radio going on 13 miles out at sea. We pulled up the lines and high tailed it out there.

All good artists seem to be into self portraits. While we were making ground out to the new fishing spot, I took this photo which is actually the reflection off one of the rear facing windows. It came out rather well considering the bumpy ride and low light.

Okay, on to some fishing action. Dave hauled in the first Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi to you land lubbers) and this was the only shot I got of any of the fish jumping.

These fish are really beautiful when they are in the water. The closer it got to the boat, the more brilliant the blues and yellows shone out. A tremendous catch!

Jim is pulling in the biggest catch of the day. And no small puppy either. This fish had him going for about 10 minutes.

And, what better to do after a hard day's fishing than kicking back and putting down a cold one. This photo was during our return to shore. You can see the wake jumping over the side of the boat.

This is what happens when you arrive at the Brazilian restaurant no wearing a jacket. You get your own private banquet room! Not a bad deal. We even got free drinks at the bar for having such a silly policy. And nothing on the menu was over $25? Eh hem.
