August 23, 1998 - Air show at Chicago North Beach - Sunday

Most images have been cropped.  Otherwise no adjustments have been made.  Some photos do not have a higher resolution original, you are viewing the cropped original in those cases.  If you can click on a photo it has a large photo to view.

Today was Day #2 of the Air show in Chicago.  Last night they had a night air show but the lighting was too low to get any decent photos out.  Today I took a number of photos.  I cropped most of these because most of the photo was cloudy sky and no airplane/helicopter.  I hope you enjoy them.

El train stop at Jackson

We started our journey in the El train.

Crowd shot   You can see there are a number of people here to see this event.

Star spangled banner

Two Navy Seals fly the American flag from their parachute to start the days festivities.  Hands on the heart during the national anthem, please.

Prop planes in formation

Some prop planes from the Lima-Lima acrobatic group.  I think they are at http://www.limalima.org/ or http://www.limalima.com I have to test it and find out.

B1b Bomber!

Not too many times will you get a chance to see one of Congress's biggest failures/tax dollar drainers.  I don't even think the B1b has seen any real combat action yet.

Navy Seals

More Navy Seals parachuting down.

Squadron formation

A squadron of F16s, B1b and the C135 tanker.

Squadron formation

Same squadron headed the other way.

Coast Guard helicopter

US Coast Guard rescue helicopter.

Biplanes

Biplanes in formation and trailing smoke.

F15

An F15 strutting it's stuff.  This plane is LOUD when he hits the afterburners!

\

Here he is demonstrating what the F15 looks like when attempting to land on a carrier.

A10 Warthog

One of my favorite planes when I'm playing one of my computer games.  A truely versatile war machine.

The Apache attack helicopter

An Apache attack helicopter.

Apache helicopter

Another view of the same chopper.

C135 ready to fuel some F15s

The C135 tanker ready to fuel some F15s

Couldn't hear the name of this airplane

A large plane, the C130 perhaps?

Getting ready to land!
